How can I get involved? There are various ways in which those researching the Perry families can get involved in the Perry DNA project: Join the DNA project: here. This option is only available to males who have a documented or suspected paternal line descent from another male Perry. To join the Perry surname test, you need to order the male/Y-dna kit. We strongly recommend that you test at least 37 markers as less detailed tests may not give a conclusive result. Once an order is placed, we will send you a questionnaire regarding your Perry ancestry. Please fill it in with as much detail as possible in order to help find the connection between yourself and your matches. Sponsor another family member or researcher to join the DNA project. If you are a female Perry or your Perry descent is not through the paternal line, you can try to find a male Perry relative to test in your place. Searching for Perrys from different branches of your tree may help to prove undocumented family relationships. It is possible to order a test on behalf of another person and for two people (the tester and the sponsor) to be contactable in the event of a match. Donate to the general fund: here. Donations can be made through the website by credit card or Paypal or by mail (by cheque/check or credit card). Donations can be made in honour of a family member and any contributor may specify whether they would like their donation to be used for a specific project, or if they would prefer the contribution to be put in the general fund, to be used at the discretion of the administrators. When we use the general fund to subsidise a tester, this will only be done where they have supplied a detailed pedigree to be shared with the rest of the project. The Perry General Fund has been set up to help off-set the expense of DNA testing for those individuals who could not otherwise afford to participate. Anyone can donate to the Perry General Fund. Any amount is accepted and every dollar helps when we all pitch-in.
